Biblically, watchmen on the walls were posted in high places to watch every route of approach and announce ahead of time the identity and purpose of those who approached the city.
Watchmen today are the intercessors. They are to watch and see what the Lord is doing locally and among the nations. Spiritually, they are posted in high places to watch and announce ahead of time the identity and purpose of those who approach the community of God – whether the visitors are ambassadors of good will or enemies approaching with evil intent. ~~ James W.
